Activities in Lorne

Lorne´s golden sandy beaches are amongst the most beautiful along the Great Ocean Road, with numerous water and beach activities on offer. The Front Beach is no more than a 15 min walk away from Acacia Villas.

The surf beach at Lorne is ideal for bodysurfing and for relaxing on the wide sands. Lorne has beach breaks for beginners and bigger right-handers running into the rocky shores of Lorne Point and, on its western side, at Vera Lynn and off St George´s River. Along the coast, between Lorne and Apollo Bay, there are good surf spots at Cumberland River, Wye River, Baldy Rock, Skene´s Creek, Sawmills and Kennett River.

The Bush, along with Lorne´s pristine beaches is by far the highlight of a visit to Lorne. We have so many different bushwalks that could keep you occupied for weeks. The Policemen´s Track begins at Acacia Villas. It is a 15 min nature walk to George River estuary and beach, or take a right turn at the river and follow it through the beautiful rainforest to Allenvale. Teddies lookout is a 15 min walk up George St with breathtaking views of the rugged Great Ocean Road coastline and Otway Ranges.

The Otway Ranges also provide plenty of opportunities for outdoor adventure from exhilarating downhill mountain bike rides to challenging 4WD drive trails and beautiful rainforest walks.
